ITDS and early intervention jobs in Florida

Work as a 1099 Infant Toddler Developmental Specialist with children ages 0–3 and their families, in homes and daycares across Central Florida and Miami.

The work

  • Work with infants and toddlers, ages 0–3, during the years when early support can change a child’s path.
  • Spend much of each visit coaching caregivers on strategies they use every day. This is what makes early intervention different.
  • See children in natural environments: homes, daycares and community settings.

How the 1099 setup works

  • You join AMP as an independent contractor (1099), not as a W-2 employee.
  • You are paid for each visit you complete. We discuss compensation openly in your first conversation.
  • No taxes are withheld from your pay. You handle your own taxes, and you receive a 1099 form at the end of the year.
  • You set your availability and the size of your caseload.

Your schedule and your caseload

You decide how much you work. Tell us your availability and how many children you want to see, and we build your caseload around it, with families grouped close together so you spend less time driving. A full week, part-time, or a few afternoons alongside another job: that is your call. About 300 children are waiting across our service areas, so the caseload you ask for fills right away.

Mentorship and clinical support

Early Steps documentation has deadlines. Our clinical operations team helps you keep IFSP paperwork moving, and mentorship is available from day one. Documentation is electronic, with templates and training, and our team helps with scheduling and authorizations.

What you need

  • Degree in early childhood, child development, special education, psychology or a related field
  • Florida Early Steps ITDS credential (or ability to complete it)
  • Level 2 background screening
  • Valid Florida driver's license and reliable transportation

Nice to have

  • Experience with infants and toddlers
  • Familiarity with IFSPs and family coaching
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, Haitian Creole or Portuguese is a plus

Where you will work

Therapy happens in children’s homes, schools and daycares in the areas we serve: Orlando, Brevard, Lake Nona, Osceola, Polk, Hillsborough, Pasco, Miami, Seminole and Lake. Our office in Orlando is administrative only.

Questions therapists ask us

Can licensed OTs, PTs and SLPs do early intervention with AMP?

Yes. Licensed clinicians with an interest in birth-to-three work in early intervention too, after completing the Early Steps provider requirements.

I do not have my ITDS credential yet. Can I apply?

Yes, if you are able to complete the Florida Early Steps ITDS credential.

Is this a 1099 or a W-2 position?

It is a 1099 independent contractor position. You are paid per visit, no taxes are withheld, and you manage your own taxes. Our 1099 guide compares it honestly with W-2 work.

Can I choose how many children I see?

Yes. You tell us your availability and the caseload size you want, from a full week to a few afternoons, and we match families to it.

How quickly will my caseload fill?

About 300 children are waiting for a therapist across our service areas, so the caseload you ask for fills right away. You will not spend months building it.

What does it pay?

We do not post pay on the website. Compensation is discussed openly in your first conversation with our team, before you commit to anything.
