What Is Home Care Pediatric Physical Therapy?

Home Care Pediatric Physical Therapists provide developmental therapy services for children 0-21 years old in a comfortable and convenient setting such as their home, daycare, or private school.  Receiving services in the child's natural environment is a good choice for most children because it allows the child to get the help they need in the surroundings they are used to; in addition, the family is often present for support and participation during the services.  As the therapist gets familiar with the child's environment and in their everyday routine, they can provide caregivers with activities to work on when the therapist is not at the child's home. Families today have busy schedules and Home Care Physical Therapists are able to coordinate their visits with what works best for the family’s routines.

Why Do Parents Choose our Physical Therapists?

Suppose a child is struggling with essential developmental milestones for their age. Developmental issues are likely present. In that case, parents reach out to us for help. To the best of our ability, we pair them up with one of our therapists that live within three zip codes of their home, creating the building blocks of a relationship that is likely to last for years.  We have built relationships with families that start after the child's birth, now the child is 21 years old and is still being supported and seen by us."

We have many professionals that apply to become part of our team, and we currently have a 20 percent acceptance rate, two out of ten. However, for that 20 percent that becomes part of our team, we do 100 percent in our power to provide them with the tools they need to focus on the children we treat.

Some of our kiddos are sheared by other disciplines: Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Behavior Therapists, and  Infant Toddler Developmental specialists. If the circumstances allow, we create a team of professionals whom all focus on the same goal to improve the quality of life of that special kiddo.

We deal with families that already have many challenges to deal with, and we are there to help. We interact with them with the most kindness possible to help them brighten their day just with our presence. We also use kindness when dealing among our team members, ensuring impactful relationships all around.

Every day, our families invite us into their homes, trust us with their children and make the time for us to be there. We never want to take that for granted, and reliability is a sign of respect and appreciation for the trust that is placed on us. This is a very flexible profession, but it does take open communication with the individuals affected by our schedules.

If you are applying for a position with our organization, it means that you have already done the due diligence to obtain the needed degrees for your profession. The knowledge that we are talking about is knowing when to reach out for help.  Your willingness to learn and to teach when needed. We hire new grads that possess these qualities, and we decline long-standing professionals that don't and vice-versa. It is not about your exposure to the career but your ability to help us make the most impactful difference in the communities we serve.

What are independent contractors 1099 and employees W2?
The positions that we offer to our therapists here at AMP PEDIATRIC THERAPY is as an independent contractor, so it is essential to know the difference between a 1099 and a W2.

An independent contractor is self-employed.

When you enter into a  contract with a company as an independent contractor for a specific role like being a Pediatric Physical Therapists, you have more control. It gives you the ability to set your hours and use your tools like electronic devices and toys, or other items to provide the treatment to the kiddos.  Since you are self-employed, the company you entered into a contract with will not withhold any taxes from your paycheck.  You pay your own taxes. It gives you the ability to have significantly larger deductions when filing your taxes for the necessary items to accomplish your job. It also provides the company with the ability to provide you with higher wages than an employee.

An employee is hired by a business under an employment agreement.
The hiring company will withhold taxes from your wages. They will have to train you in their specific way of providing therapy, and they may provide benefits. Because of this, the hiring company will have more control over you as an employee- They dictate what you work on and when you work.

Both of these types of contracts have their pros and cons. You have to decide what works best for you as an individual when choosing between these options. As of today, our practice only offers 1099 contracts to our therapists since it gives us the ability to provide the most to our team members under this model.
